Episode 26 Show Notes

Happy Eggtoberfest!

October means Octoberfest in our household, so this month Suzy will highlight German recipes that use eggs. This week we talk about my favorite noodle… Spaetzle! It’s basically a short stumpy egg noodle, but it is amazing!

Check out the recipe here!

What Happened to All the Eggs?

You have probably noticed that the days are getting shorter and your hens are laying fewer eggs. Those two little tidbits are not unrelated. As the amount of daylight dips below 12 to 14 hours per day, your hens slow down their egg production. As the days get even shorter, they may even stop completely.

In this episode, Suzy and I discuss why that happens and what you can do about it.

Adding artificial light to your coops will absolutely get those gals laying at full speed again, but is it good for their health? Or do they need a winter break from laying?
